Preheat oven to 180-degree celcius.
Grease a large baking tray and line with grease proof paper. Dust lightly with flour.
In a bowl, pour the dry yeast and 1 tbs sugar. Mix and leave aside until frothy.
Mix the flour and salt together in a separate bowl.
In another large mixing bowl, attached to a mixer and dough hook, whisk the egg, sugar, oil, and milk together.
Pour in the yeast mixture and mix to combine.
Add in the flour, one cup at a time, along with the lukewarm water.
Knead the dough for 3-5 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Transfer dough to an oiled bowl and cover with a warm kitchen cloth.
Leave to stand in a warm place away from drafts, until doubled in size, for about 1 hour.
Knock dough down onto a floured surface and divide dough into even sized pieces.
Roll each piece into a rectangular piece.
Scatter chopped garlic and shredded Gouda cheese. Resist adding too much.
Roll dough up starting from the longer side of the rectangle.
Fold the dough going into a circular motion, tucking the ends underneath until a ball is formed.
Brush with milk or egg wash.
Sprinkle sesame seeds and leave to stand for 15 minutes in a warm place.
Bake the buns for 10-15 minutes until they are slightly browned at the top and cooked through.
Remove from the oven and brush the tops with melted butter.
Enjoy with lots of butter or whatever filling you have.
Totally irresistible!
I look forward to you making these and gathering your loved ones around. Paz
