Marble cake is a classic cake that adapts its name from the marble-like patterns created, when vanilla (light) and chocolate (dark) batters are swirled together, from its layers.
This marble loaf cake variation is made using one batter.
The end result is a moist and flavourful marble loaf, perfect for tea time or any occasion or celebration!
Here’s what you’ll need:
Marble Loaf Cake with Oreo Chocolate Glaze
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- pinch salt
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 135g butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 1/2 tbs cocoa powder
- Oreo Chocolate Sauce
- 1 large slab Oreo chocolate
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Sift the dry ingredients together except for the cocoa.
- Using a handheld machine or stand mixer, whip up the butter, sugar, eggs & vanilla extract.
- Fold in the dry ingredients and add in the milk
- Divide the batter between two bowls & sift the cocoa into one of the bowls
- Fold in to combine
- Alternate the white and brown batter into a greased baking loaf pan
- Using a toothpick or wooden skewer, create swirls in the batter.
- Bake at 180°C for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted, comes out clean.
- Allow to cool completely before removing from cake pan.
- Whilst loaf is baking, make the chocolate sauce by heating up the cream over low heat.
- Break the chocolate into the cream and stir to blend in. Add in the vanilla extract.
- When ready to serve, pour the chocolate sauce over the cake loaf.
